Microchip has designed 16-bit digital signal controller (DSC), disPIC33 and MCU, PIC24 for a series of ICE and electric vehicle (EV) power system applications. A significant benefit of this development is that these platforms provide electric vehicles with immediate response and high reliability under harsh operating conditions. They support software controlled motor control, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve operation, and water and oil pump control. The size of the disPIC33 and PIC24 products is suitable for power system use, and also facilitates power management, battery charging and external lighting controlled by the vehicle software.
